Caring for Your Piano's CabinetWhen taking care of the piano's cabinet, the outer shell of the piano, be sure to dust regularly. When dusting keep in mind that dust will scratch the cabinet if wiped with a dry cloth. Instead use a lightly moistened soft cotton cloth to remove dust and avoid scratching. Using a high quality cream polish is recommended to remove scratches such as 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. Keep in mind this is only for fine scratches, not large ones. When cleaning your keys use a damp white cotton cloth with water. Make sure it is white as colored clothes may stain the keys. Lifting the keys up very slightly will allow you to properly clean each individual key. Also make sure to use a cloth that is only dampened and does not drip as water may damage the piano. When cleaning the black keys be sure to use a different cloth than the white keys as the black may end up staining the white keys.
